As the British Nutrition Foundation's Healthy Eating Week concludes, we asked Dora Walsh, Nutritionist & Functional Medicine Practitioner for her go-to recipe to kickstart her mornings on a healthy and delicious note. She shared an easy-to-make mixed berry smoothie recipe loaded with essential vitamins, amino acids and fresh fruits, making it a healthy and delicious addition to your morning routine.  

This recipe is perfect for a post-workout pick-me-up, helping you meet your fruit intake goals for the week while providing a satisfying boost to power through your day. Grab your blender and whip up this easy, nutritious smoothie in just a few minutes!

Ingredients (1 Serving)
(increase the amounts if you need to serve more)

• 1 small teacup of whole, rolled oats (soaked if possible)
• 1 teacup of frozen or fresh dark berries (choose your favourite berry, or mix blueberries, raspberries and strawberries together)
• 1 scoop of protein powder (choose from whey protein, pea protein or hemp protein powder)
• 1 large tablespoon of flax or chia seeds
• Unsweetened almond of soya milk to taste
• ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder


Instructions
1. Combine all the ingredients together in a liquidiser
2. Add your milk of choice
3. Blend the ingredients into a tasty, nutritious smoothie packed full of protein, healthy fats, slow-release carbs phytonutrients and fibre.
