I’m originally from Beverley in East Yorkshire, and currently live in Belper, Derbyshire. I completed my undergraduate/masters (Mathematics) and PhD (Mathematical Biology) at The University of Sheffield, and since 2020 have worked full-time as a Research Ecologist for the British Trust for Ornithology, specialising in farmland birds.

My parents first took me orienteering when I was a baby(!), but it wasn’t until my late-teens that I decided to put more effort into training and competing in orienteering events. Growing up I competed in numerous sports, most notably football, but I eventually realised that I was better at running than with the ball at my feet. My mum and dad are my biggest source of encouragement and motivation.

Orienteering, and sprint orienteering in particular, is fast-paced and requires quick-thinking and problem-solving on the go. Each orienteering race is unique, and I enjoy the excitement of not knowing where I will be going until I pick up the map at the starting line.

Notable achievements (in date order):
1. First senior call-up to the Great Britain team in 2015
2. 17th in the Individual Sprint at the 2015 World Orienteering Championships (held in Scotland)
3. GOLD in the Mixed Sprint Relay at the 2016 World University Orienteering Championships (Hungary)
4. 4th in the Mixed Sprint Relay at the 2016 World Orienteering Championships (Sweden)
5. 6th in the Mixed Sprint Relay at the 2018 European Orienteering Championships (Switzerland)
6. 9th in the individual sprint at the 2022 World Cup Round 1 (Sweden)
7. SILVER in the Mixed Sprint Relay at the 2022 World Orienteering Championships (Denmark)
8. 6th in the Mixed Sprint Relay at the 2023 European Orienteering Championships (Italy)

Current World Ranking: 15th (https://ranking.orienteering.org/?ohow=FS)

The 2024 season is set to be a very exciting one, with the World Championships taking place from the 12th-16th July in Edinburgh, Scotland. In the build up to the World Championships, there are several key events:
1. Sprint Scotland, Fife, 4th-5th May
2. World Cup Round 1, Switzerland, 24th-26th May
3. World Cup Round 2, Italy, 1st-2nd June
4. British Sprint Championships, Birmingham, 22nd-23rd June
5. World Championships selection event, Edinburgh, 29th-30th June

Outside of work, training and competing, I enjoy spending time in my garden, growing both flowers/plants and vegetables, whilst aiming to make the space as wildlife friendly as possible.

I am delighted to be joining Revive Active as a Brand Ambassador. Incorporating Zest Active Pro-Sport and Joint Complex Pro-Sport into my training regime has been simple and effective. Both supplements ensure I am taking all the essential nutrients I need to compete at a professional level.
