Working for climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers
The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) are the national representative for mountaineers, climbers and hill walkers, and the organisation that runs GB Climbing. Formed in 1944, they were established to be open to all and speak on behalf of their members. With this member base currently boasting over 80,000+ people, the BMC’s mission is to support their passionate community and inspire those curious about their activities to get out and enjoy them. They know that challenge and adventure enriches lives, provides mental and physical well-being and unifies the community. The BMC endeavour to support and prepare their members to be safe and responsible whilst doing so.
GB Climbing is the department of the BMC dedicated to participation and organisation of climbing competitions in the UK. They nurture talent, put on national events, coach and inspire the country’s elite competition climbers. Now the team are looking to Paris 2024 and LA 2028 - to become a world-leading sport climbing nation. Four climbers, Erin McNeice, Hamish McArthur, Molly Thompson-Smith, and Toby Roberts are all qualified for Team GB at the Paris Games.
