Revive Active are now the partner of British Mountaineering Council(BMC). We will be fuelling athletes and members of the national representative of climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers (including GB Climbing athletes!) with our award-winning supplements.
Founded in 1944, the BMC was established to be open to all and speak on behalf of their members, protecting spaces and supporting them in their activities. With over 80,000 members and growing, their mission is to help their passionate community get the most out of their chosen activity safely and responsibly. They are also custodians of outdoor spaces and the environment for future generations.
The BMC - hill walking, mountaineering and climbing
Whether you’re new to the hills or already exploring, BMC have your back with practical tips to get you started with hill walking or skills training to expand your hill walking knowledge. You don't need a qualification to start and one of the great freedoms that mountain users cherish is the ability to enjoy themselves without the presence of regulation! Find your next walking adventure with a BMC affiliated club.
If you want something involving a degree of skill or preparation, mountaineering could be for you - from exploring Britain’s hills in summer or winter to scaling Himalayan peaks. The BMC publishes a free New Hill Walkers booklet and Safety on Mountains booklet to help you learn the basics. There are many mountaineering clubs affiliated to the BMC and many run meets in remote parts of Britain or abroad.
Have you ever thought about getting involved in climbing? Both rock climbing and indoor climbing are represented within the BMC. Whether you want to venture outdoors or go to a local climbing wall, you don’t need any qualifications, but you can find a course near you to help you get started. The BMC also have guidebooks and clubs to help you out too!
The BMC & GB Climbing
The BMC runs GB Climbing and are proud to be the new wave of Olympic sport , developing top talent in the country, with the ambition to be a world-leading nation in competitive climbing. In the summer of 2021 in Tokyo, climbing became an Olympic sport for the first time. Now in 2024, four climbers; Erin McNeice, Hamish McArthur, Molly Thompson-Smith and Toby Roberts, have qualified for the Paris Games and Revive Active will be supplying them with our ProSport range to help them reach new heights.
Competitions, events and campaigns
Alongside GB Climbing, the BMC run a series of national competitions and events across the UK and Ireland, including the British Boulder Championships, the British Lead Championships and the Four Nations Cup Series. Revive Active look forward to being a part of these events and more as our partnership progresses!
The BMC are also making big steps to protect our wild places. One of their campaigns, Mend Our Mountains, focuses on repairing footpaths across Great Britain and so far, they have restored 50 miles of fragile footpaths and raised £1.4 million.
Another vital campaign they run is called Hills 2 Oceans, where they are calling on everyone to help them remove damaging litter and plastics from our ecosystem - litter picking across hills, mountains and crags. The BMC also work with Moors for the Future, with whom they’ve helped to transform over 8000 acres of peat moors across the Peak District and South Pennines.
